Internet Safety
Although the internet is an efficient and effective resource for production and convenience, utilizing the internet does open the door for dangers. Students should never post personal information, such as phone number, address, location, or birth dates. This leaves the door open for hackers or predators to track you and use your personal information without you knowing it. Similar to not getting the car with strangers, never speak with or meet up with someone you met online. Do not have them visit you without permission from your parents. The person behind the other screen may be a predator and may not be who they say they are. Do not download or install anything on your computer without checking with your parents or guardian. There are viruses and malware online that may hack into your personal information. Remember to use privacy settings and virus protection to prevent your computer from being hacked. Never share your password with anyone, the only people that should have access to your password is your parents or guardian. It is always important to be vigilant online, and question out of the ordinary sites or online behavior. If anything makes you feel uncomfortable, or if you are ever threatened online, tell your parents or guardian.
